Large Hail Hits Sun Prairie and North/East Madison on June 22nd, 2024

On Saturday, June 22nd, a hail storm passed through the Madison area, specifically hitting Sun Prairie, North Madison, and East Madison. Reports show approximately 70,000 homes were affected.

The photo below shows an example of the large hail that hit Sun Prairie, WI. The homeowner requested an inspection. Signs of damage were found on their roof, and Badgerland Exteriors will be assisting them through the insurance claim process. 

What does hail damage look like? Check out the photos below of damaged shingles from this same homeowner. One of the strongest signs of hail damage is divots on the shingles. The black tar paper is exposed and may be soft to the touch like a bruise on an apple. Water can infiltrate these areas where the granules are not intact and fully shielding the shingles from the elements.
