About Us
Simple Contracting. Simply Great Results.
How Badgerland Was Born
Owner AJ Stoffels spent his early years working all across the U.S. building roofs. But in 2009 things began to change. He saw common gaps between what customers were saying they wanted, and what roofing companies were delivering on a national scale. He decided then and there to be a force for positive change. Badgerland Exteriors was created in Sauk City, and has been serving customers faithfully for over a decade.
Core Values to Live By
At Badgerland, we don’t just list our values for show. We demonstrate them through our actions, each and every day. We believe that treating others with respect and delivering outstanding results is the bare minimum, and around here? We like to go above and beyond. Want to know what to expect when you hire us? Here’s what we focus on.
Integrity
We're up front and sell products that were confident in and would install on our own homes. We say what we do, and do what we say.
Always Growing
Our main drive in business is to constantly improve to better serve our clients.
Working Together
Teamwork in our company is crucial for us to maintain a satisfied client base.
Loyalty
Our loyalty to our customers and community are a cornerstone to our success.
We Work Hard
Consistency in our day to day operations are a must for us to survive. Strong work ethic will set us apart from our competitors.
Why Choose Us?
Homeowners across America have similar complaints when it comes to working with roofing contractors: poor communication, unfair pricing, and shoddy results that don’t last. We do things differently by taking the roof replacement process from stressful to peaceful. You can count on us to do exactly what we promise to do, whether that be showing up promptly or sticking to our upfront estimate.

This Verona home had a few things going on: algae growth, granule loss, exposed nails, and nail pops.
The homeowners upgraded to @certainteed Landmark™ shingles in Heather Blend for a clean, updated look and added algae resistance. (Wisconsin humidity likes to keep roofs on their toes.)
Swipe through for the before & afters, plus a closer look at some of the roofing issues we found during the inspection.
We’re continuing our Insurance Jargon series with adjuster and adjustment.
After a storm, your insurance company may schedule an adjustment. That’s the meeting where an adjuster reviews the reported damage and determines what may be covered under your policy.
For many homeowners, that’s one of the most important steps in the insurance process.
During the adjustment, the adjuster will inspect the property, document any covered damage, and determine whether repairs may be approved. Many homeowners choose to have their contractor present during the inspection as well.
Even if you’ve been through the process before, insurance can get complicated.
We’re the roofing people, but insurance is part of the process.
We help you understand what to do next and stay with you throughout the claim.
Cue the graduation music for the diplomas. 🎓
Several members of our team recently completed CertainTeed’s Master Craftsman certification program focused on roofing systems, installation practices, and manufacturer standards.
We’re proud to have a team that continues to invest in learning and improving their craft.
Here’s how they’re showing off their certificates, with a few proud family members (and dogs) making appearances along the way. 🥹

A little before & after solar update from AJ & Steph. (Array photos and electric bills included.)
We put solar on our own home for a reason.
We wanted to understand the process firsthand, believe in the product we offer, and see what it could do on a Wisconsin roof.
So far? Bills are trending the right direction. ($6.53?!) Spring brought some noticeable savings, and summer hasn’t even started yet.
I’m an air conditioning person, so I’ll be watching closely.
What’s changed day to day? Not much. We’re just a little more aware of sunny days. Laundry and the dishwasher tend to happen when the sun is putting in work.
Solar is not the right fit for every home. But when it makes sense, it be a smart long-term move.
We’re continuing our Insurance Jargon series with “date of loss.”
“Date of loss” refers to when damage happened to your home, not when it was first noticed. And in Wisconsin, it’s often what starts the clock for filing a claim. In many cases, homeowners have 12 months to file.
For many of our Madison-area homeowners affected by the recent storms, April 14th will be your date of loss.
Even if you’ve been through the process before, insurance can get complicated.
We’re the roofing people, but insurance is part of the process.
We help you understand what to do next and stay with you throughout the claim.
Insurance conversations don’t always end at the first visit.Sometimes it takes a second set of eyes to make sure nothing important gets missed.
“When the insurance inspector came out… there were things that were missed. The whole project wasn’t going to have coverage. AJ stepped in, walked through the damage, and made sure everything was accounted for so we could move forward.”
